Last january 2009, 9th, 10th and 11th took place The France Show in London city .
Among the visitors, about 600 attended a wine tasting at the AOC Cahors "Wine Theater", and moderated by Laurent Marre, french specialist of Cahors Malbec wines.
For this event, entitled "Cahors, The Original Malbec", only the wines available yet in United Kingdom were tasted and so of course the Château Paillas.
We presented our vintage 2002, and here are the comments of Laurent Marre:
"Purple color reflections violine, crystal clear. Nose of fruits in the notes of jam, cherries, licorice a little woody. Mouth supple attack and silky tannins, black candied fruits, at the end of mouth licorice. The flexibility of this wine will be interesting associated to a fish in sauce."
Two interesting points: first the nose "little woody" of Château Paillas wines, found regularly in tastings while ageing is entirely made in stainless steel tanks are due to terroir. And then the "surprising" pairing of vintage 2002 with fish, as already noted Philippe Faure-Brac (the world's best sommelier 1992) at the tasting of wines of Cahors organized by the International Sommelier Journal on 4 February 2008.
